Activities Assistant

Full-Time | Assisted Living & Transitional Memory Care Community

Reports to: Activities Director

We’re seeking someone who:

• Is genuinely interested in working with seniors in Assisted Living and Memory Care.

• Demonstrates professionalism, compassion, and integrity in all interactions.

• Communicates effectively and warmly with residents, families, and team members.

• Maintains an excellent work ethic and positive attitude, even on busy days.

• Is enthusiastic, approachable, and able to build strong connections, especially with shy or withdrawn residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Activities Director in planning, organizing, and leading creative, social, physical, and educational programs.

• Independently lead a variety of activities such as art projects, trivia, group discussions, word games, music programs, and outings.

• Encourage and motivate residents to participate in programs, creating an inclusive and uplifting environment.

• Assist with set-up and clean-up of activities, including moving furniture, preparing materials, and organizing spaces.

• Take and edit photos and videos of activities for community displays and newsletters.

• Design and post flyers and digital signage for upcoming events.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of activity and storage areas.

• Support and accompany residents during community outings.

• Step in and function independently when the Activities Director is unavailable.

• Attend ongoing training and education to enhance skills and meet state and community standards.

Experience & Skills (Required or Will Be Trained On)

• Experience working with older adults or individuals with cognitive changes preferred.

• Skill in organizing, leading, and adapting activities for residents with varying abilities.

• Strong technological skills: Microsoft Office, digital displays, photography, and basic graphic design for flyers.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Creativity, flexibility, and reliability are essential.

Availability & Logistics

• Schedule will fluctuate as needed, including occasional holidays, evenings, and weekends.

• Initial schedule: Daytime, Tuesday through Saturday.

• Must have reliable transportation to and from the community.

• Must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team in a lively, compassionate environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Ability to pass Level II background screening.

• Computer literacy required.

• Prior experience with seniors or recreational programming preferred but not required.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lbs (occasionally 50 lbs with assistance).

• Work takes place both indoors and outdoors.

• May involve exposure to cleaning products or other standard community materials.
