Position Summary:

The Director of Events will lead the strategic and operational direction of the Event Management Department, guiding a talented team responsible for executing a range of corporate events, including conventions, tradeshows, corporate meetings, and proprietary events. This role is central to managing key client relationships, ensuring efficient resource allocation, and driving profitability while maintaining the highest standards of client satisfaction and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop Event Managers and other team members, aligning departmental objectives with CUBE’s strategic goals.
    • Create and refine training programs for Event Managers, promoting continuous growth and professional development.
    • Foster a team culture that emphasizes client satisfaction, accountability, and innovative thinking.
  • Client Experience & Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain long-term, strategic relationships with clients, ensuring a seamless and client-centric experience throughout the event lifecycle.
    • Oversee major client presentations and pitches, demonstrating a deep understanding of client needs and industry trends.
    • Develop and implement a structured client experience process to optimize service quality and drive client satisfaction.
  • Operational & Project Management:
    • Oversee all department operations, from event planning and logistics to vendor selection, contract management, and budget control.
    • Partner with the Director of Operations and other senior leaders to enhance event workflows, improving efficiency and delivery standards.
    • Allocate resources effectively, managing multiple large-scale events simultaneously while maintaining budget integrity and client expectations.
  • Financial Management & Accountability:
    • Oversee budget creation, quoting, and invoicing for all events, ensuring adherence to financial objectives and accountability.
    • Manage departmental financial goals, making strategic decisions to maximize profitability and meet performance targets.
    • Provide final approval on all budget allocations and expenses related to client events and departmental needs.
  • Strategic Planning & Innovation:
    • Spearhead the ideation of new event concepts, exploring creative ways to exceed client expectations and enhance service offerings.
    • Identify opportunities for department growth, exploring new service lines, client markets, and operational enhancements.
    • Contribute to the company's vision, working closely with executive leadership to drive CUBE Events' mission forward.
  • Key Account Management & Proprietary Events:
    • Manage high-profile client accounts and lead proprietary event initiatives to reinforce CUBE’s industry reputation.
    • Ensure a consistent approach to relationship-building across the department, working directly with clients to elevate their event experiences.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Event Management, Public Relations, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
    • 5-7 years of experience in event management, including managing corporate events, leading teams, and overseeing high-profile client accounts.
  • Leadership & Communication:
    • Proven ability to inspire, manage, and develop teams in a high-performance environment.
    • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging clients, vendors, and team members at all levels.
  • Project & Financial Management:
    • Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder communication.
    • Proficiency in budgeting principles, cost control, and financial reporting relevant to event planning.
  • Customer-Focused & Strategic:
    • A client-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering outstanding client experiences.
    • Strong strategic thinking skills with an ability to make sound, informed decisions under pressure.
    • Bilingual proficiency (English & Spanish) with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
