Single Family Residential Designer / Architectural Associate / Interior Designer
Nelson's Construction is a growing construction company in need of a designer looking to take on interiors for custom single family residential projects. The ideal candidate is someone with a background in interior design, architecture, art, fabrication, lighting, A/V, furniture, and/or materials research/selections.
Qualifications
- The right candidate for this position possesses four non-negotiable qualities; these are absolute must have items
- Knowledge of custom residential design, materials, and selections
- Attitude to be professional with clients and work well with the entire design and construction management teams
- Skill with BIM software and a willingness to learn ArchiCAD if not already familiar with it
- Habits to follow a design process and reinforce drafting and graphic standards across multiple custom residential project types, scopes, and schedules
- You must have a positive personality; positivity is contagious and it’s a must have from the top on down
- You must be energetic and have a strong drive for success
- You must know how to deliver a positive customer experience
- Read blueprints and material specifications to determine material properties, methods of installation, work procedures and tool requirements and communicate same with Field Services Management
- Reliable means to make it to and from project and meeting sites, ability to pass background check
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to reliably work from home
- Working towards, or possessing, a professional certification (CID, NCARB, etc.)
Responsibilities
- This role will work under the guidance of our in-house Architect on completing bidding, permitting, and construction plan sets
- Managing the interior design and selections process
- Creation and documentation of mood/selections displays for client meetings
- Meeting and communicating with clients to assist and coordinate finish, appliance, and fixture selections
- Producing and reviewing residential project plans
- Researching and maintaining knowledge of various styles, design disciplines, application methods, and materials
- Sourcing materials and managing the office materials library
- Helping answer questions from our suppliers and subcontractors during the bidding process
- Provide guidance to Field Services and Subcontractors and help them interpret design specifications
- Visiting building sites to ensure work is being done according to plan
- And other project administration duties as needed
