****Job Description****
We have an immediate opportunity for a 1st Shift Handyman Technician ?to join us at our diverse team in Freeport, IL. As assigned by Team Leader/Facilitator, performs duties relating to routine maintenance and housekeeping in manufacturing and office areas.
****Job Responsibilities****
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
* Use of computer systems are required for managing work load and communication.
* Operates evaporator system managing the dump stations and evaporators.
* Coordinates with Plant site Safety Leader the disposal of hazardous material; solvents and sludge.
* Responsible for managing mop dump stations and floor soap dispensing areas.
* Performs minor mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance
* Assists higher classifications as needed
* Maintaining Aercology/Torit/Smog Hog systems. This may involve filter changes, unit cleaning, or belt replacement. Also taking air-flow readings in the ducts to balance the system, which requires sheave replacement.
* Maintain paint booth for cleanliness and organization.
* Weld and fabricate support.
* Support cleaning of shop aisles with the use of rider and manual scrubbers.
* Using forklift to remove dumpster, perform janitorial duties.
* Performs general grounds care; trash pick-up, parking lot cleaning, snow shoveling, etc.
* Supporting Fluid Managed recycling program which may involve coolant recycling, tank moving and cleaning, sump pump-outs etc.
****Background & Skills****
The ideal candidate possesses these skills.
* High school diploma/equivalent (GED) or equivalent experience. General knowledge of housekeeping and maintenance is required.
* Ability to read, analyze, and schematics. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Leadership, customers & service technicians is required.
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume are required. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry are required.
* The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
