Job Description

Job Title: HR Generalist

Position Summary:

The HR Generalist supports the daily functions of the Human Resources department, including recruiting and onboarding, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role serves as a key resource for employees and management, ensuring compliance with company standards and employment laws while fostering a positive and productive workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer and coordinate human resources programs including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, compensation, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Support the HR Manager with employee investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
  • Process and maintain employee records in HRIS and ensure data accuracy.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding activities to ensure a smooth transition for new employees.
  • Assist with payroll and timekeeping functions, including verification of hours and attendance tracking.
  • Administer leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA, personal, etc.) in compliance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Support benefits administration, including open enrollment, changes, and employee inquiries.
  • Participate in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR topics, including performance, attendance, and workplace conduct.
  • Assist with HR-related reporting, audits, and metrics tracking.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and training efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor and Employment Relations, Organizational Leadership or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in human resources or related administrative role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Certification: SHRM-CP or PHR preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge/Skills:
    • Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • May occasionally need to move around the facility to meet with employees or attend meetings.

Work Environment:

  • Office environment within a manufacturing facility.
  • Regular interaction with production floor employees and management.
