Job Description

Position: Assistant Professor, Political Science Department, Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities & Social Sciences The Department of Political Science at Midwestern State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026. Responsibilities Teach 12 credit hours/4 courses of American national government and Texas government each semester. Communicate and meet with students. Assist with departmental needs. Maintain a regular presence on campus. Requirements Required Qualifications include: PhD in Political Science or closely related field (ABD considered with expected completion by August 17, 2026). Expertise in the field of American Politics. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness. Evidence of potential for strong scholarly research. Preferred Qualifications: Commitment to undergraduate education. The ability to teach courses in areas that would add to the Department offerings, such as public administration, public policy, research methods, social movements, or any additional subfield. Interest in collaborative research with colleagues and/or students. Standard Requirements Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must adhere to University’s core values.
