  • Responsible for managing a technical organization with tactical and strategic decision making to support the engineering activities of the airline. This job is also responsible for managing efforts to continuously improve the products and processes of the organization.
What you'll do

  • Responsible for the professional development of team members
  • Supports the strategic direction of the Sr. Manager of Avionics Engineering for the organization and manages the methods to achieve it
  • Provides coordination and oversight for accomplishment of regulatory mandated items
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team responsible for aircraft software distribution, configuration management, ACMS programming, and ANSP integration
  • Coordinate with Flight Operations Safety, maintenance, and Predictive Maintenance Engineering teams to ensure ACMS/Frame outputs are actionable and aligned with operational goals
  • Support certification and airworthiness activities related to software changes, software integrity and authenticity including documentation, testing, and regulatory engagement
  • Maintains the Companys specification for Avionics (examples: Navigation, Communication, Flight Instruments, and Autopilot)
  • Establishes group work priority to support continuing safe, reliable operations
  • Liaises with internal and external supplier and maintenance organizations to ensure product specifications and maintenance activities actively support the goals established for the product
  • Ensures timely review/analysis and follow-up action for mandated FAA programs (examples: RVSM, LMP, ADS-B Reporting) and other company generated programs
  • Provides management review and control over the Avionics Engineering Team, including the development of projects, structure or processes supporting the overall continuous airworthiness maintenance program
  • Acts as focal on addressing technical and process issues essential to the success of the Company
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 4 years of experience in a leadership role in commercial aviation

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Masters of Business Administration or in Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in leadership role
  • Thorough understanding of AA Policies and Procedures
  • Aviation experience
  • Yellow Belt certification from a qualified source for Lean/Six Sigma (LSS) accreditation
  • Understanding of Software Distribution, Configuration Management and ACMS Programming
  • Understanding of Aircraft Network Security Program

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Outlook, Excel, etc. Demonstrated ability to manage major projects on schedule
  • Demonstrated skills in employee development
