A family in Jersey City is looking for a consistent and reliable nanny for their four children. Please note that each child tends to be home at different times. The schedule is Monday to Friday from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. School half days will be an earlier start but will still end at 6:00 pm. The position is year round.

Duties include:

Meeting the van that drops one child off at 3:45 pm. Walking three blocks to pick up the other three children at school at 3:15 or 4:15 (if after-school activity), and then caring for all until 6:00 pm. Preparing after-school snacks and, on some days, dinner for the children. Assisting with chores like loading/unloading the dishwasher, making beds, vacuuming, and sorting laundry.

Ideal nanny:

The ideal nanny for this family is open to a long-term position. She is a self-starter who knows some ASL (American Sign Language) and/or is willing to learn along with the family, as the 3-year-old child is deaf. ASL is not their primary means of communication; the child wears hearing aids and uses both spoken word and introductory ASL. A nanny with discretion, the ability to self-direct, and intelligence would best complement the adults in the home.

About the children:

This 3-year-old is a super active little boy with a
big personality! He is funny, energetic, and very loving. He loves cars and being outside. He is deaf and wears hearing aids on a headband, and the whole family is learning ASL to support him and ensure his ability to communicate with or without hearing aids.

This 5-year-old is intelligent, articulate, confident, brave, and thoughtful. Her after-school activities include?Family Sign Language and soccer. She also loves to dance!

This almost 7-year-old thinks like an engineer and loves art. She is a daydreamer, creative, loving, empathetic, and sometimes insecure. Her activities include?Family Sign Language, art or science club, and soccer.

The oldest child is 9 years old and is awesome. She is smart as a whip, great at taking care of her siblings, and starting to request more independence as her confidence and knowledge grow. She enjoys Girl Scouts, soccer, basketball, and is starting alto saxophone this month.?The kids get along and are generally well-behaved.

About the home/parents:

These parents are supportive and loving parents and spouses. They run a family-focused, hardworking, and respectful home. The children do not have any tablets or devices and television is kept to a minimum from Monday to Thursday.

Benefits:

Salary plus paid vacation days off, paid holidays off, paid sick days off, and paid personal days off. The family has access to private parking which the nanny is welcome to use.
