As a key on-air presence, you will serve as a newsroom leader, connecting with the community while representing the values and credibility of Louisiana First News. Responsibilities: Anchor live newscasts with confidence, clarity, and professionalism. Deliver breaking news with urgency and accuracy, providing viewers with context and clear information. Collaborate with producers, reporters, and the newsroom team to develop compelling content. Write and edit scripts for accuracy, clarity, and impact. Engage with viewers on digital platforms, including social media and the station’s website. Represent the station at community events and maintain strong local connections. Provide leadership and mentorship to the newsroom staff. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred. Minimum 2–5 years of on-air anchoring and reporting experience. Strong editorial judgment and storytelling skills. Excellent on-camera presence with strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle breaking news calmly and professionally. Experience with digital and social media platforms. Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues. Experience guiding, directing and motivating others. Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills. Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Flexibility to work any shift.
