Overview Cowles & Thompson seeks a paralegal / legal assistant for its Plano (Collin County) office to support a litigation attorney and be a part of the litigation team. Must be willing to work in the office 2-3 days a week. Must also be available to attend court hearings. Responsibilities Oversee and manage attorney calendar including management of all settings, scheduling, and deadlines. Assist in management of cases and maintain docket along with assisting in management of action items of attorney and other team members on a matter. Draft Discovery Requests, Responses, Supplements and Expert Designations. Prepare drafts of Motions, Pleadings, Orders, Notices, Subpoenas, and similar. Organize, index, manage, and maintain documents and production in each matter. Prepare indices for all discovery production and keep updated. Assist and support in preparation for hearings, trials, mediations, depositions, and similar including preparing notebooks for same. Work with client to respond to written discovery. Work with and assist in management of experts and maintain records of what has been sent to or received from experts; same with third party requests and production. Attend and assist at hearings, trials, and depositions where necessary.
