Department: Police Reports To: Police Office Coordinator Supervisory Duties: No FLSA Status: Non-exempt Benefits: Yes Union Status: AFSCME Position Objective : Responsible for answering phone calls, assisting walk-ins, typing police reports promptly, and performing various clerical duties to support efficient operations in the records department. Responsibilities Professional/Technical Duties and Responsibilities: Type in-custody police reports for individuals awaiting court appearances, followed by regular police reports completed by officers. Answer all incoming calls from the public, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, and others. Submit cases to the courts for both in-custody charging and formal complaint charging. Assist with all lobby walk-ins, including the public, law enforcement personnel, and deliveries. Respond to radio calls from officers and conduct in-house checks (warrants, license plates, vehicles, persons) as required. Scan all received documents for cases into our online database. Complete background checks for City Employment and Gun Permits. Disseminate information upon request, adhering to confidentiality protocols. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficiency in typing and clerical duties. Strong customer service skills for interacting with various stakeholders. Ability to assess problems and situations, anticipate needs and evaluate alternatives. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently. Knowledge of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Terminal Operator operations. Ability to maintain confidentiality on department related items. . Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED. One year of customer service experience. Preferred Training and Experience: Business school, and/or college degree. Supplemental Information Physical Requirements: This job typically requires: sitting, talking, typing, and reading.
