What You’ll Do Thriving as a Senior Corporate Counsel at Samsung requires the intellectual flexibility, confidence and judgment to provide practical advice independently, and the interpersonal skills to work with all levels of the organization. This is a true generalist role. Internal clients include sales and marketing business units, R&D labs, and internal operations teams from logistics to finance to human resources. The successful candidate will work in such legal subject matters as commercial contracting and risk assessment, technology transactions, IP protection, litigation, corporate governance, compliance and employment. SSI’s legal department values teamwork, independent thinking, judgment and a client-centric approach. Location: While some flexibility is permitted, in general, the successful candidate will have a daily onsite presence at our San Jose, CA office Reports to: Deputy General Counsel Job ID: 42620 Serve as a readily available resource to internal business staff on legal matters. Participate in negotiations on legal issues in a variety of documents and agreements and offer support in resolving open business and legal issues. Provide legal analysis of risks and potential liabilities in business engagements. Supervise and coordinate SSI’s prosecution and defense of litigation matters. What You Bring 6-9 years post-law school legal experience, with a minimum of 3 years in law firm serving corporate clients. Law degree (Juris Doctor) from a U.S. accredited law school. Experience with a broad range of legal subject matters areas commensurate with the breadth of the role; commercial and technology transactional legal experience; knowledge of semiconductor and high-tech subject areas; good business judgment demonstrated through at least 6 years of legal counseling to business clients. General knowledge of commercial law, employment law and intellectual property law. Commercial litigation experience a plus. Superb interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to become a trusted expert for all levels of the organization. Ability to navigate highly matrixed, international organization with overlap of roles and responsibilities (e.g. legal and business teams at headquarters in Korea).
