SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES The Elementary Teacher is responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students. This includes developing and delivering standards-aligned instruction, fostering a culturally responsive classroom, and assessing student progress to inform instruction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with district and state standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while instructing, supervising, and engaging with students.

- Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of instructional materials, classroom supplies, and equipment (up to 25 pounds).
- Dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating technology, writing on whiteboards, and handling instructional tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT - Elementary teachers work in a dynamic classroom setting, engaging with students individually and in groups while integrating technology and flexible learning strategies. They frequently move throughout the school, supervising students in various spaces such as hallways, cafeterias, and outdoor areas.
- Collaboration is essential, involving teamwork with colleagues, communication with families, and participation in school events and professional development. The role requires adaptability in a fast-paced environment with varying noise levels and potential exposure to childhood illnesses.
- Teachers follow a structured schedule with additional responsibilities like lesson planning, grading, and meetings beyond instructional hours, requiring strong time management and organizational skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is required.
- Prior teaching experience in an elementary setting is preferred, including student teaching or internship experience.
- Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and curriculum standards for elementary learners.
- Experience with culturally responsive teaching, differentiated instruction, and classroom management strategies.
- Familiarity with educational technology, assessment methods, and inclusive teaching practices is beneficial.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS - Valid teaching license/certification in Elementary Education, as required by state regulations.
