Job Description

Launch or continue your career in Construction as a Construction Worker in the home renovation industry with Palmetto Renovations of Columbia Inc.

We need a Construction Workers to join our crew. You need to know how to use various hand and power tools.  Experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, tile, or home renovations is a plus; however, we may be willing to train candidates who demonstrate they are hard-working, reliable, and can learn quickly.  As you may have to travel to multiple jobs throughout the day, having a valid driver’s license and your own reliable transportation is a must.  If selected for and pass our phone screening, you will be required to pass a Background Check and Drug Test before continuing in the interview process.

Summary/objective

The Construction Worker will perform a wide range of physical labor tasks in support of workers on the construction site.

Essential Functions

  • Assists skilled workers as assigned. This may include jobs such as carrying/moving materials as needed for the project.
  • Unloads materials that are delivered such as cabinets or boxes of tile and distributes them to appropriate locations as identified by supervisor, project plans, or specifications.
  • Prepare the layout area where construction will take place by properly measuring, marking, or recording openings or distances.
  • Prepares tools and materials for skilled workers such as mixing cement or preparing flooring for installation.
  • Cleans and prepares specific areas of jobsite as assigned. This may include erecting scaffolding; cleaning up rubble, debris, and trash; or removing hazardous materials.
  • Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Cleans jobsite at the end of the day, ensuring trash is properly disposed of and materials or equipment are properly stored.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions.
  • Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change.
  • Ability to work with a variety of personalities.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic as needed to count and take inventory.

Depending on the project, it could be indoors, outdoors, or both.

Physical Demands

  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds (18.14 Kg – 27.22 Kg).
  • Must be able to work some Saturdays and at night, when needed with little to no notice.

Travel required.

Education and Experience:

  • Prior job experience preferred.

Preferred education and experience

  • Successful completion of vocational school, technical college, or apprenticeship program
  • Three years of experience via on-the-job training required.
  • College degree or Trade certification
  • 5+ years of trade-specific experience
  • OSHA -10 certification

Background check and Drug Test requirements

Must be able to pass a background check and drug during the interview process.
