The General Manager will be responsible for the overall management and operation of our facilities This role includes the supervision of staff, overseeing maintenance of facilities, and ensuring a high standard of customer service. The GM will work closely with various departments to drive growth and maintain the marina's reputation as a top-tier destination.

Location: Pelican Bay Marina - Cherry Creek State Park, Denver Colorado

About Pelican Bay:

Pelican Bay Marina, The Lake House - a 10,000 square foot event center and The Wharf paddle board beach, are nestled in the heart of Cherry Creek State Park in South Denver, Colorado. The Marina has a vibrant boating community and a premier destination for slips (188), vessel storage, and fueling needs. The Lake House hosts corporate events, social events, a summer concert series and other events. The Wharf boasts a paddle sport beach where we rent stand up paddle boards, canoes and kayaks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations,The vast majority of our business is from April to November, ensuring safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee Lake House Operations.
  • Manage slip allocations, mooring services, and the provision of utilities and amenities to boats.
  • Supervise maintenance and repair of docks, piers, and related marine facilities. 
  • Manage fuel dock and store including ordering and inventory control.
  • Implement environmental policies and practices to ensure sustainable marina operations.
  • Provide an excellent level of courteous service to all members and their guests as well as to all visiting clientele.
  • Open and close the Marina in the morning (or by your designee).
  • Make periodic "Bed Checks" of boats in storage and keep Dockwa Tenant list up to date.

 

Safety and Compliance 

  • Ensure the safety of employees, customers and visitors. Train employees in the safe use of equipment and all emergency procedures. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of Workers’ Compensation injuries.
  • Understand and comply with government regulations pertaining to the facility. This includes but is not limited to: Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Fire Department, , OSHA, EPA, and Department of Labor Department.
  • Maintains professional relationships with agency representatives and contractors.
  • Organize, oversee and market all marina-related events. Proactively seeks ways to promote marina to maximize potential.

 

Financial Duties

  • Use DOCKWA for slip holder payments and account management.
  • Use SPOT-ON for Lake House transaction and reporting
  • Follow and ensure appropriate accounting procedures for closing and balancing cash registers, credit card charges and miscellaneous receipts. Safe guards all funds/receipts and petty cash.
  • May perform other tasks assigned by senior management.
  • Check "Daily Cash & Sales Report".
  • Responsible for fuel pricing and reordering.
  • Check daily fuel sales.
  • Record daily fuel meter readings and fuel tank levels first thing in the morning and again at the close of business.
  • Direct payroll reporting using our ADP app and scheduling via “When I Work”.
  • Check "Work Orders" and process them.
  • See that the cash register has adequate change and make daily deposit.
  • Follow up on delinquent accounts.
  • Keep adequate records of boats, trailers and engines belonging to customers by attaching an identifying tag.
  • Establish high standards of cleanliness, marina maintenance and professional service to Tenants, and enforce the same through equally high standards of Employee conduct and performance.
  • Enforce Marina Rules and Regulations.
  • Responsible for Marina Security.
  • Take charge and direct function of all personnel in connection with all emergencies.
  • Schedule self for duty on full time, regular basis. It is important that the Manager be on duty weekends and whenever peak loads are expected.

Staff Management:

  • Recruit, train, and manage marina and event center staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Schedule staff shifts, oversee payroll, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Train subordinate personnel through establishment of in-service training.
  • Train, schedule, and supervise all marina personnel. 
  • Administer safety training and ensures established company procedures are followed.
  • See that Employees absent due to illness are adequately covered.
  • Conduct periodic Employee Performance Reviews.
  • Delegate person who is to be in charge when Manager is not on premises

 

Customer Relations:

 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with boat owners, event clients, and guests.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally.

 

Qualifications:

  • Certified Marina Manager (CMM) designation preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a marina and event center environment.
  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Event Center and Marina operations, boating regulations, and event planning.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and marina management software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • AS our business is seasonal, it may be very desirable to negotiate a 10 -month work schedule with two months off during our winter season.

Qualifications:
