Wayside is one of Massachusetts’ most respected child and family‑serving agencies with program locations across Central, Eastern and Northeastern Massachusetts serving more than 6,000 children, young adults, and families each year. Salary & Benefits Salary range $58,000.00 to $62,000.00 per year, depending on experience and license. Sign‑on bonus of $2,000, paid in two installments: half after 30 days and half after 90 days. Pro‑rated for part‑time. $5,000 stipend for completing an extended school year. Tuition, training & student loan reimbursement PTO: 3 wellness days, 9 paid holidays, up to 3 weeks vacation in first year Free training institute with thought leaders, CEU trainings & program trainings Financial health supports Excellent medical benefits Teamwork atmosphere and career development support What you will do Implement curricula according to Massachusetts State Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core Standards in a Chapter 766 approved school for students in grades 6‑12. Provide challenging, motivating and relevant learning experiences in a 220‑day setting. Teach classes by using various methods and materials to suit topic, IEP and/or learning style. Employ differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students, including integrating technology into lesson planning. Provide a learning environment that is physically safe and intellectually open and in keeping with special education best practices. Model the school’s academic and social expectations. Attend department meetings and relevant school and professional events/meetings as necessary. Maintain first aid, CPR and TCI certification through provided trainings. Responsible for keeping in compliance with program and agency policies, standards and protocols. Deliver structured lessons and activities for assigned class period for each group/student in accordance with their current IEP. Provide individualized intervention and accommodation when necessary. Participate in assessment practices in regards to Academy’s IAP program. Assist in and/or develop IEPs as appropriate. Participate in teacher and staff meetings. Establish and maintain open communication with parents and guardians. Complete all associated documentation regarding student progress and grading. Maintain current licensure in moderate disabilities and curriculum area. Competencies/Traits of Our Superstars Ability to work independently (self‑direct on projects, propose solutions). Ability to teach, mentor, and coach others (provide constructive feedback to employees on shift, thoughtful instruction). Dependability and persistence (excellent follow‑through on assigned tasks). Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in education preferred. At least 6+ months classroom experience (aide/co‑teacher/etc.) preferred. Licensure: Curriculum certification held, licensure in Moderate Disabilities 5‑12 preferred. Training Provided We will train you in Motivational Interviewing; Courageous Conversations; Attachment, Regulation and Competency Model (ARC); Trauma‑Informed Practice; MAP; TCI; CPR; First Aid training upon hire.
